The Risk Reduction Through Design Awards 2024/25, sponsored by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF), are now open for nominations.

These awards are designed to recognise UK employers who have successfully minimised workplace risks, particularly those associated with musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).

Focus on Musculoskeletal Disorders

MSDs, which encompass injuries affecting the back, joints, and limbs, remain a major concern across various industries. The awards aim to celebrate companies that have made effective design changes to their work environments or processes, leading to significant reductions in musculoskeletal risks. This could involve measures such as reducing tasks involving heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, or awkward postures.

Award Categories

The awards are split into two categories:

  1. Best Overall MSD Risk Reduction Through Design Award
  2. Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) Award

Who Can Apply?

The awards are open to all UK employers who have implemented innovative solutions to reduce musculoskeletal risks. Winners will be announced at the CIEHF awards event in April 2025, and their achievements will be featured as case studies by HSE to promote best practices in workplace safety.

Nominations are open until 31 January 2025.

If you’ve made strides in enhancing workplace safety, why not apply for recognition and showcase your efforts in improving health and safety?
